Life Since High School:
I inlisted in the Army in sep of 69 and un be known to me,at the time, took basic training with David Villareal and my life bud Sabino Escobar.
Wound up in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina working as a Medical Records Specialist at Womack Army Hospital where I met my lovely wife June. She was a Medic working in the Emergency Room and on our first date I asked her to marry me and we have been together for 40 years and still going strong !!! Thank you Lord !!!
We finally were transfered to Augsburg Germany where we both served at the 30th Field Hospital. Our son Adrian was born there and after the service we finally settled in Ohio after a short time in El Paso.
I haven't had many jobs per say, but they have been interesting--One in particular was as a Dynamite Blaster and Drill Operator which about did me in on a number of occasions. I finally landed a position as a shipping and recieving for the RCA plant in Findlay, Ohio where I worked while going to college at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green , Ohio--I was majoring in Special Education Learning and Behavior Disorders, but when I got to my Senoir year decided to apply to the Apprenticeship program for Plumbers and Steamfitters out of Local 50 Toledo, Ohio and that is where I wound up, no regrets, the work was extremely physical, dangerous, and very challenging but for some reason it was meant for me. I am not comfortable woking with four walls around me, I have to be out on the job and it has to be physical. I have worked in Nuclear Power Plants, Refineries, Paper Mills, Steel Plants and Chemical Plants. I have been as far north as the U. P. of Michigan and as far south as Ashland, Kentucky with stops in Cleveland, Detroit, Ft. Wayne, South Bend, and all around the Great Lakes area working with great people and some not so great--it has been quite an adventure, now I move into the next phase of life--retirement.
We live out in the country surrounded by woods and farm fields, there is a creek behind the house and it is a wonderful place to raise a family. I love it out here and I can even put up with the winters as brutal as they are at times.
I am active in the Church with Good Samaritans Ministry and now that I am retired starting a new ministry called Helping Hands where we help folks with projects like siding a house or demo sidewalks and installing handicap ramps when someone needs help or can't for what ever reason. We are also involved with the Least of these Ministry where we prepare and serve meals at the Salvation Army--For if not for the Grace of God --I would be there myself !!!!
I enjoy coaching baseball and have been coaching for ever it seems, I also enjoy playing softball and still play despite my advanced age, but it keeps me fit and young at heart. I currently coach and play on our New Life Co-Ed B League Softball team and this year I get to play with our Oldest Grandson Ellias, and our Daughter Rachel as well as our Son Adrian--really tickles this Old Timer. !!! Grandkids keep us very active with coaching Cross Country, running Road Races, Little League Baseball, Softball--Life is full, Loving every moment of retirement !!!!!
I have enjoyed staying in contact with a number of the 69 class thru out the years but lately Mara Edwards and I have become very good friends and she keeps me posted on all you folks as well as Fernie thru his emails and postings.
I have had a wonderful life and I am looking forward to seeing and talking with all of you guys and counting down the days for the 100 year celebration of the Lady on the Hill 2016 !!!!!
Life is good--remember Trust in the Lord for all things-and don't let yourself get in the way.
