Rudy G. Vega passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2008 after a lengthy but courageous battle with cancer. At the moment of his passing, he was surrounded by his wife, Linda, daughter, Alex and son, Vinny. Also by his side were his parents Rudy and Virginia Vega, his brother, Alonzo along with close friends and family. Known by his many friends as "Mo", Rudy was born in El Paso, Texas on January 9, 1953. He graduated from El Paso High School in 1971, where he won an "All-District" award as a Defensive Tackle for the Tiger Varsity football team. He later graduated from UTEP with a degree in Accounting. He worked as an accountant for the El Paso Newspaper Printing Corporation. On February 26, 1977 Rudy married Linda, the love of his life. They had two beautiful children, Alex and Vinny. In 1999 they moved to Albuquerque where Rudy began his teaching career. He was a 7th grade math teacher who loved his students at Jimmy Carter Middle School. His teaching extended beyond the classroom, and impacted the lives of many. He never lost his love for life even during his toughest battles. Rudy's greatest passion in life was his family - Saturday movies, barbequing, cruising, or playing golf. As long as his family was with him, he was happy. He was best known for his positive attitude, great sense of humor and friendly and caring personality. He is loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
