Leopoldo "Lipo" Moises Hurtado II, age 66 was born January 30th 1952 and passed away peacefully on April 17, 2018 surrounded by his family. Leo was preceded in death by his parents Leopoldo M. Hurtado and Alicia O. Hurtado. Lipo was a beloved friend, son, brother, husband and father. He is survived by wife Enriqueta "Kathy", son Leopoldo III and daughter Marissa Jahnavi, brother Enrique Monreal, sister Enriqueta "Keta" Monreal, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a proud graduate of El Paso High School c/o '70 and UTEP '75 graduating with his B.S. in Criminal Justice. Leo was a lifelong Miner fan in all sports and never missed a game as well as a Dallas Cowboys fan. Leo was active in his community volunteering, spending time with his friends and family, and coached various baseball and tee-ball teams. He worked at Popular Dry Goods Store in his younger days and he later worked at the Shelter for Battered Woman then moved on to Bienvivir Senior Health Services where he spent 23 years; first as a case worker then moved on to center director and later as training specialist. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. At his request, we ask those attending the services you wear a Hawaiian shirt, UTEP or Dallas Cowboys colors to both services. Visitation: Thursday, 5-9pm with Vigil at 7pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina 915-598-332. Funeral Mass: Friday, 1:30pm at St. Patrick Cathedral.
