Roberto Olivares Jr., age 74, an Atoka, OK resident. He was born on Friday, October 12, 1951, to Roberto and Paula Olivares Sr., at El Paso, TX. Roberto passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at Denison, TX. He attended St. Patrick's Private Catholic School and then graduated from El Paso High School. He later went on to UT in El Paso where he received an Associate's Degree in Physical Education, Biology and Health. Roberto was a Sales Manager for AlSups in New Mexico and was also a racquetball instructor at Clovis Community College. He retired from Kinney Shoes Company. He met his Best Friend Lanis Kay (Blakley) in December 1999 at Midland, TX. They have celebrated over 26 years together.
Roberto was a longtime Catholic and a member of St. Patrick's Cathedral in El Paso, TX. He enjoyed racquetball, basketball, baseball, (loved sports), music, listening to Tejano music, enjoyed his student teaching years and loved mexican food. He enjoyed cooking mexican cuisine, talking to his family and enjoyed traveling.
Roberto is survived by his special friend, Lanis Kay Blakley of the home; daughters, Sabra Jones and Bubba of Odessa, TX, Bernadette McCune of Albuquerque, NM, Paula Williams of Jacksonville, TX, Andrea Olivares of San Antonio, TX.; stepson, Matt Carlson and wife Casi of Hamilton, TX; stepdaughter, Christin Carlton and husband Justin of Midland, TX; grandchildren, Evanjelena O'Neal, Breydyn Barron, Zaydyn O'Neal, ZaeVonna O'Neal, Anthony Olivares, Jazzrae Shelton, Zakiya Hunter, Jake Havercroft, Kirstin Havercroft, Keaton Carlson, Saylor Carlson, Britton Jones, Breanna Jones, Braelyn Jones; brother, Joe "Pepe" Olivares and wife Martha of El Paso, TX; sisters, Belinda Castro and husband Jesse of El Paso, TX, Isela Cuellar and husband Tony of El Paso, TX; 5 great granddaughters; Numerous extended family, loved ones, and dear friends.
Roberto is preceded in death by his parents, Roberto and Paula (Olivares) Olivares; aunt, Aurora "Tia Goody" Olivares; uncles, Ignacio "Nacho" Olivares, Lola Olivares, Eduardo Olivares; nephew, Jacob Olivares, Jesse "JJ" Castro Jr.

From the beginning to the earthly end, Robert Olivares was such a kind soul. Robert was a devoted father, a loving brother, and a proud grandfather whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He cherished his family above all else and will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Services will be held at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Atoka, Oklahoma, on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Viewing for family and friends will be on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 6-8 PM.
